Published ~ My Girl

Mar 28, 2012

So we’ve got a bit of exciting news to share!

We recently got published in the latest issue of Modern Wedding Magazine Vol54! A great issue I have to say, because not only do you get the main magazine, but also three other magazines that covers Real Weddings, Styling and Wedding in Bali !

Its been about 2-3 months since our My Girl styled shoot, and it was a pleasant surprise to find out we made it into this issue as part of the article “25 Ways to make your wedding incredibly stylish” :)

This shoot wouldn’t be possible without the ideas and hard work of all the creatives involved!

So thank you to the following people:

Weddings ~ Ann & Alex

Mar 18, 2012

It didn’t feel so long ago since I first met Ann & Alex almost a year ago at our local Gloria Jeans discussing details for their wedding day and just a month ago they have officially tied the knot!

The day started with hair & make up at Watsons Bay Hotel, which was a short walk away from the ceremony and reception venue so there was definitely no rushing or traffic involved!

Hair & Make Up: Sophie Lau Make Up & Hair

Ceremony: Under the Fig tree outside of Dunbar House, Watsons Bay

Reception: Dunbar House, Watsons Bay

Shall let the photos speak for themselves! :)

Thank you for having us as your wedding photographers Ann & Alex!

Best wishes to the beginning of your lives together :)

Engaged ~ Anita & Albert

Feb 29, 2012

Today’s blogpost is going to be extra long and extra special! Long because I am about to spam your screens with lovey dovey shots of Anita & Albert and Special because, it is the 29th Feb! Leap Day! I don’t think I’ve ever blogged on a leap day before so this is a first. Just some fun-facts about today: apparently back in the middle ages, women are allowed to propose to their partners only on leap years, and IF the man rejects them (ouch), he has to give her a kiss and a silk gown! I think the women proposing on leap year part of this tradition still exists today, though it is the first time I’ve heard of it!

Anyway, back on track.

Within minutes of meeting Anita & Albert on the day of our shoot, I knew I had a super, fun loving couple on hand to photograph that day! I admire their abilities to make each other laugh effortlessly and among all the giggles and laughs, their love for one another shines through <3

So the goal/theme of the day was to capture their fun loving nature, and combining Anita’s love for colourss we decided to go to Luna Park!

Anita even impressed me that day by wearing my favourite colour – Red! she earned some bonus points with the photographer right there ;D Indeed, I can’t hide that I love having a splash of colour in my outfits and in this case photos! So that’s a tip to future brides – add a splash of red/bright colour to lighten up a dull outfit/photo :)) I believe a coloured accessory works wonders alone with the rest of your outfit! (That is, if you don’t have another clashing bright colour)

It was a long 5-6hour shoot that day, hence thats how we managed to to several locations – Luna Park, Walsh Bay, Watsons Bay, and successfully capture 2 of Sydney’s icons! Opera house + Harbour bridge.

Then, we saw these guys and thought hey, Albert, might just blend right in! :P

Anita not losing the opportunity of getting a few ‘scores’ :P

And here we are at Watsons Bay for a completely different look and feel – the light that afternoon was amazing! We were so thankful that it didn’t storm out as predicted, so there was no use for the rainbow umbrella we had in our back up plan! phew. and Yes Anita is in a wedding dress, but it isn’t THE wedding dress for her big day. She described to me what it looks like and I can already imagine it would be quite extravagant! Can’t wait to see it in just.. 6 weeks :D

I also learnt, these two had a thing for playing Paper, Scissors Rock. You can tell who’s a winner here.

Debut of the $0.50c frame, I bought from a vintage market – which was a bargain!… until, I lost it at the end of the shoot :(

Could not resist capturing the ‘calmness’ of the water and the beautiful light at the end of the shoot, so happy everything worked out in our favour!

Had so much fun that day, that we can’t wait for part two to continue…on their big day!

Anita and Albert, see you guys in April!
