[Weddings] Cathy & Trevor

Nov 29, 2010

Several weeks ago I photographed alongside Bailie on yet another beautiful wedding!

Cathy and Trevor was pretty lucky to have the weather on their side. If you know Sydney weather tends to be highly unpredictable these days, thank God for that… because I swear I remember seeing ‘showers’ on the weather forecast. Sure it looked gloomy in the morning, but it absolutely cleared up by the time of the ceremony!

We arrived at their house; which I have to say was like a Treasure trove waiting to be discovered; little bits and bobs here and there, which Cathy has collected overtime. You’ll get what I mean as you scroll down…

This was read at the wedding ceremony, now how about an Aussie wedding!

See what I mean? I love the display of different mirrors in the living room!

The ceiling lamp has such character!

Bride-to-Be!

They had an outdoor bar for the reception;

I love the pesonalized touch with the branding that was consistent through out the day!

Vintage inspired wedding dress on the left. In the right photo, you see several door handles which Cathy has collected!

Any of these 2 people look familiar to you? :)))

I was so happy for Cathy and Trevor that the weather was on their side! It started pouring, say an hour after the ceremony!

Only for a little while thankfully, otherwise we wouldn’t have manage to get some beautiful shots in the national park after.

It was such a pleasure to have photographed a beautiful wedding <3 I’m impressed, it took Cathy (and her team!) about 12 weeks to put together all the little details which I would’ve imagined to have taken months, and months!

Wishing Cathy and Trevor a Happy Marriage!

A Series of Romance 01

I’ve had quite a hectic past weekend; photographing beautiful people sums it up! Had a 12 hour wedding to shoot on Saturday (which I will blog about later!) and Sunday Bailie invited me along to a collaboration shoot between him and a few others! Collaborations are fun, it’s amusing and exciting to see what people bring to the set, in terms of creativity!

I loved everything about this shoot, from location, styling, fashion, hair, make up, flowers! and overall just the people who participated! And so fortunate that the weather was sunny, beautiful and no hint of grey clouds! (I’ve lately learned to have less expectations on Sydney weather =/)

There’s about three different ‘scenes’, so you won’t expect to see all three in one post ;) it’ll be queued up one after the other ! :P Suspense is awesome.

Before I photo-spam, I’d like to specially credit those who contributed their efforts to this photoshoot, and a great Sunday afternoon! (And you should most definitely click and check out other stuff they’ve done! impressive!)

Co-Photographer; Bailie
Designer/Styling; Amy Oram from Teeki (She designed the dresses and hair pieces for Amber!)
Models: Amber and Matt
Hair: Candice Lee
Make Up: Katy Moore
Flowers and Decor: Lina from Chanele Rose Flowers & Events

*drum rolls*

Love the coral coloured dress Amber is wearing! The movement of the dress is beautiful!

I learnt that these ‘corsages’ for the boys are called buttonholes!

Beautiful and interesting assortment of flowers! Love flowers that are out of the ordinary!

Gotta love the bling in this bouquet!

That’s all for tonight! If you want to see more, you may have to wait for another day :) It was hard to pick out just a few shots that highlight this series! And as I said before, I loved every detail of this shoot, so I try to show those off!

More to come…. :)

Weddings ~ Emma & Scott

Oct 23, 2010

I had the opportunity to second shoot a wedding with Bailie last weekend. Weather was great, sunny day, blue skies despite the bit of wind was still bearable. I had no idea what I was to expect other than a wedding at Manly, and later found out the ceremony and reception will be at Q (Quarantine) station.

Q station rang a bell, I had been there before for a school History excursion, and didn’t leave a great impression either. To me, that place was scary, haunted… only because while on excursion the tour guides would occasionally tell us stories.. and later scare us with a bit of movement… like a BANG! on the corrugated iron walls. Creeped? Hell Yeah, never imagined I would be back there again…. but that’s just a side story.

It was different this time, 6 years later, the place had changed alot – it looked more tourist friendly with signs here and there, rather than run down and deserted. That’s a friendly start, I’m guessing it had transformed into a venue for weddings and other events. And being there for a wedding totally changes the atmosphere…..

Anyhow, lets start from the beginning.

We arrived at the bride’s mother’s home with waterviews up North, but we were a little late… because the suburb blacked out probably an hour ago, of all things that could go wrong on a wedding day!… It was hard to get ready without electricity of course, so we had to head straight to Q station. It was a pity because the bride’s mother’s house was beautifully decorated! I felt like I was in the Greek islands… or a scene of Mamma Mia the Movie…

So the getting ready part of the day took place in the cottages at Q station, which were also nicely furnished…. This was the part when I slowly saw pieces of the wedding coming together… from the dress, flowers, to the shoes… I have to say its one of my favourite part of weddings!

You will start to see why they chose Q station, the place reflects heritage, which is exactly the theme they were going for…. Classic 1910… hence alot of Emma’s accessories were a few decades old!

Emma: “I’m a bit of a lavender fan, can you tell??” … Oh yeh! The room was filled with aromas of lavender, made the day that much sweeter :)

The wedding dress; when I first saw this, I couldn’t take my eyes off the simplicity of this dress, not only that but it was beautifully elegant. Emma, the bride is quite tall so I had imagine she would look beautiful in this dress.

I loved the bit of detail around the dress that added to the simplicity and elegance.

Girls can’t go wrong with Hollywood Fashion Tape, not only is it a fashion saver on a wedding day! :)

The four brides maids, did I say I love the green and purple? :)

Caught these two in beautiful afternoon light ;)

…and Scott, the groom enjoying his beer before Photoshoot time!

While the sun was still a little harsh, I tried to capture the shadow in this scene, it somehow feels a little editorial :)

Thanks Bailie for letting me capture a beautiful couple, and also got to live up to my fears of Q station!

I wish the new couple, Emma & Scott a Happy Marriage!
