Weddings ~ Emma & Scott
I had the opportunity to second shoot a wedding with Bailie last weekend. Weather was great, sunny day, blue skies despite the bit of wind was still bearable. I had no idea what I was to expect other than a wedding at Manly, and later found out the ceremony and reception will be at Q (Quarantine) station.
Q station rang a bell, I had been there before for a school History excursion, and didn’t leave a great impression either. To me, that place was scary, haunted… only because while on excursion the tour guides would occasionally tell us stories.. and later scare us with a bit of movement… like a BANG! on the corrugated iron walls. Creeped? Hell Yeah, never imagined I would be back there again…. but that’s just a side story.
It was different this time, 6 years later, the place had changed alot – it looked more tourist friendly with signs here and there, rather than run down and deserted. That’s a friendly start, I’m guessing it had transformed into a venue for weddings and other events. And being there for a wedding totally changes the atmosphere…..
Anyhow, lets start from the beginning.
We arrived at the bride’s mother’s home with waterviews up North, but we were a little late… because the suburb blacked out probably an hour ago, of all things that could go wrong on a wedding day!… It was hard to get ready without electricity of course, so we had to head straight to Q station. It was a pity because the bride’s mother’s house was beautifully decorated! I felt like I was in the Greek islands… or a scene of Mamma Mia the Movie…
So the getting ready part of the day took place in the cottages at Q station, which were also nicely furnished…. This was the part when I slowly saw pieces of the wedding coming together… from the dress, flowers, to the shoes… I have to say its one of my favourite part of weddings!

You will start to see why they chose Q station, the place reflects heritage, which is exactly the theme they were going for…. Classic 1910… hence alot of Emma’s accessories were a few decades old!

Emma: “I’m a bit of a lavender fan, can you tell??” … Oh yeh! The room was filled with aromas of lavender, made the day that much sweeter :)

The wedding dress; when I first saw this, I couldn’t take my eyes off the simplicity of this dress, not only that but it was beautifully elegant. Emma, the bride is quite tall so I had imagine she would look beautiful in this dress.
I loved the bit of detail around the dress that added to the simplicity and elegance.

Girls can’t go wrong with Hollywood Fashion Tape, not only is it a fashion saver on a wedding day! :)

The four brides maids, did I say I love the green and purple? :)

Caught these two in beautiful afternoon light ;)
…and Scott, the groom enjoying his beer before Photoshoot time!

While the sun was still a little harsh, I tried to capture the shadow in this scene, it somehow feels a little editorial :)

Thanks Bailie for letting me capture a beautiful couple, and also got to live up to my fears of Q station!
I wish the new couple, Emma & Scott a Happy Marriage!
